Nov. 13, 2006 WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Players from Illinois, Missouri and Ohio will join the Boilermaker softball team as the class of 2011, head coach Kim Maher announced Wednesday. Beth Cinadr (Hudson, Ohio), Shelby Krammer (Wildwood, Mo.) and Suzie Rzegocki (Lemont, Ill.) have signed National Letters of Intent to play softball for Purdue beginning in 2007. "All three student-athletes bring a desire to become better by challenging themselves in the classroom and on the field," Maher said. "It is their work ethic, belief in their ability and in the vision of this program that are going to take Purdue softball to the next level. I couldn't be happier with the signing of Shelby, Suzie and Beth." Cinadr, an outfielder at Hudson High School, is a three year member of the Akron Beacon Journal's All-Summit County team and The Plain Dealer's All-Star team. The reigning Western Reserve Conference MVP also was named to the all-Ohio and all-district teams in both her sophomore and junior seasons. A three-year All-Akron All-Star Game participant, she posted a .482 batting average, while also accounting for 27 runs, 23 RBI and four home runs her junior season as her team posted a 19-7 record en route to its second-straight WRC title under head coach Amy Densevich. Cinadr was named a Top 10 Must See Female Athletes for 2006-07 by the Plain Dealer and was named Hudson Hub Times Player of the Year in 2006. That performance followed a sophomore season in which she led her team to a school-best 20-3 record and boasted a .515 batting average, 21 RBI and eight stolen bases. A scholar athlete for both softball and volleyball and a distinguished honor roll member, she also earned Plain Dealer player of the week honors her freshman and sophomore years to go along with first team All WRC-South and offensive MVP accolades. The daughter of Larry and Roberta Cinadr has played for both the Ohio Ice and Grand Slam travel ball teams, leading her 18u squad to a third place finish at the ASA "A" Nationals in 2006. "Beth is a natural lefty who will provide power to our lineup," Maher said. "She not only can hit for power but average and has the ability to incorporate the short game. Defensively, Beth has good range and a great arm and will spend time in the outfield. Beth is a talented student athlete who has excelled on the softball field and in the classroom." Krammer, a catcher at Lafayette High School, is a two-time first-team all-state honoree at the backstop position. One of stltoday.com's players to watch in 2006, she led her team to a 22-5 mark this fall including a berth in the District 5 championship game en route to all-state, all-metro, all-district, all-region and all-conference honors. Krammer batted .443 with eight home runs, 14 doubles, 41 RBI and a .835 slugging percentage in her final season. As a junior, she led her team to the Class 4 state semifinals under head coach Scott Denoyer, while garnering herself first-team all-state and second-team all-metro accolades. That campaign featured a .398 batting average, two home runs and a team-leading 35 RBI. She was named rookie of the year as a sophomore, her first year on the varsity squad, after posting a .350 batting average. Krammer also is a three-year letterwinner in track, earning all-state honors as a junior for posting a seven-place finish in the discus at the state meet. A National Honors Society member and Bright Flight scholar, the daughter of Ron and Jean Krammer is a member of the St. Louis Chaos 18u travel ball team. "Shelby is a student of the game and this will help her behind the plate when working with our pitching staff," Maher said. "For being 5-10 Shelby moves very well behind the plate and has a great arm. Offensively, she will provide power at the plate. She hits from the right side and has the ability to go deep to all fields. Shelby has also excelled in the classroom." Rzegocki, a pitcher/outfielder at Lemont High School, ranks among the Illinois State High School career and single season listings for strikeouts and no-hitters. The righty has tossed 21 career no-hitters including 12 her junior season, a mark which ranks fourth all-time on the single-season list. She also chalked up a 24-5 record, a 0.17 ERA and 445 strikeouts en route to Chicago Sun-Times player of the year accolades. The 445 Ks is fourth on the single-season list, while her career tally of 1,078 strikeouts ranks in the top 20 in IHSA history. Rzegocki became Lemont's all-time strikeout leader on April 21, 2006 and led her team to the regional title with a home run and a one-hitter in the championship game. She tossed 12 no-hitters and 11 one-hitters and allowed only five earned runs, while batting .350 with four home runs as a junior and pitched in the Chicago Sun Times All-Star game at season's end. Those numbers followed a sophomore season in which she posted a 16-7 record, a .331 batting average and a team-best 17 stolen bases, while leading Lemont to a share of the Suburban Prairie South title. The daughter of Patrick and Paulette Rzegocki also is a captain of the Lemont Rockers travel ball team. "Suzie is going to be a great addition to our pitching staff," Maher said. "She is tough on the mound, has great control of her pitches and will not back down to any hitter. She is more than a pitcher, she is a fierce competitor. When Suzie is not on the mound, she will contribute to the team offensively with her bat. I expect great things the next four years from Rzegocki on the mound." The Boilermaker softball team begins its 2007 campaign at the Mississippi State Bulldog Round Robin on Feb. 9.
